Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our tax preparation services
Turnaround depends on how quickly we receive your documents and how complex your return is. Most straightforward individual returns are completed within 7 business days after we receive everything we need.
More complex returns (self-employed income, multiple 1099s, multi-state, amended returns, prior-year cleanups) may take longer. During peak tax season, timelines can extend so we recommend booking early.
- Photo ID
- Social Security numbers (or ITINs) for you, spouse, dependents
- W-2s and/or 1099s (NEC, MISC, INT, DIV, B, K)
- Prior-year tax return (helpful)
- Student documents (1098-T), tuition statements, scholarship info
- Mortgage interest (1098), property tax totals
- Childcare expenses + provider info
- Health insurance forms if applicable (1095 series)
- Business/self-employed: income totals, expenses, mileage, home office details
- Any IRS/CT DRS letters you received
*We'll confirm what's needed after a quick intake based on your situation.
Yes! If you're a Connecticut resident (or worked in CT), we can prepare your federal return and the applicable Connecticut filings together so everything stays consistent.
If you have income from other states, we'll confirm what's required and handle multi-state filings when applicable.
If you already filed and later discovered missing income, the wrong filing status, missed deductions/credits, or incorrect dependents, you may need an amended return.
We'll review what was filed, identify what needs to change, and explain the expected impact (refund, balance due, or no change). We'll also tell you what documents we need before starting.
Refunds are issued by the IRS and/or the state, not by us. Once your return is accepted, refund timing depends on the IRS/CT processing and your refund method.
Direct deposit is typically fastest. If the IRS or state needs additional review, processing can take longer. We'll help ensure your return is accurate and complete to reduce delays, but we can't control processing times.
Don't ignore it. Many letters are routine and time-sensitive. Send us a copy of the notice and we'll explain what it means, what the IRS is requesting, and what your options are.
Some letters are simple corrections or verification requests; others may require a response with documentation. We can help you draft the response and gather what's needed.
Still have questions?
We're here to help. Reach out and we'll get back to you promptly.

We accept secure electronic payment methods, including debit/credit cards and approved digital payment platforms.
Non-Payment
Failure to submit final payment will result in the return not being filed, even if preparation has been completed.
Refund Policy
Non-Refundable Deposits
All deposits are non-refundable, as they compensate for time spent on intake review, preparation, administrative work, and reserved capacity.
No Refunds After Work Begins
Once work has started, all payments are non-refundable, regardless of whether the client chooses to proceed with filing.
Errors & Corrections
If an error is determined to be the result of our preparation (excluding errors caused by inaccurate, incomplete, or omitted client-provided information), we will correct the error at no additional charge. This does not include penalties or interest assessed by taxing authorities.
Service Scope & Pricing Policy
Pricing Based on Described Services
All prices listed on our website, intake forms, or promotional materials apply only to the services specifically described in each package.
Changes in Scope
If a client's tax situation differs from the selected service description—including but not limited to additional forms or schedules, business income, prior-year filings, amendments, multi-state filings, or increased complexity—those services are not included in the original price.
Revised Quotes
When additional work is required, a revised quote will be provided for approval before proceeding. No additional services will be performed without client consent.

Client Responsiveness & Abandonment
If a client becomes unresponsive for 30 consecutive days, the engagement may be closed at our discretion. Any deposit or payments made will be forfeited, and services will be considered rendered.
